{"id":1050,"date":"2021-09-02T13:42:43","date_gmt":"2021-09-02T11:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/posthumusinstitute.org\/?p=1050"},"modified":"2021-09-02T13:42:43","modified_gmt":"2021-09-02T11:42:43","slug":"cfp-4th-eshd-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/posthumusinstitute.leidenuniv.nl\/?p=1050","title":{"rendered":"4th Conference European Society of Historical Demography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 4th ESHD conference leading theme is &#8216;Human\u2013environmental nexus in the past: understanding links between demographic variability, ecology and disease&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are encouraged to engage with and link across three different streams of historical social science analysis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the diversity of historical demographic behaviour across space and time;<\/li>\n<li>the study of historical health, disease, and morbidity conditions;<\/li>\n<li>human-environmental interactions in the past.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Example research questions might be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How do environmental conditions affect demographic behaviour across space and time?<br \/>\nWhat was its mechanism, its major drivers, and the latter\u2019s interaction with socioeconomic, cultural, and other factors?<\/li>\n<li>How far does the demographic and environmental specificity of historical populations help us understand the different ways that they responded to external epidemiological stressors?<\/li>\n<li>Can the links between demographic variability, ecology and disease be explained in a universal model, or should we rather consider many geographically disparate relationship patterns and interactions?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a class=\"bttn\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eshd.eu\/4th-conference-of-the-european-society-of-historical-demography-madrid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FULL INFO<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 4th ESHD conference leading theme is &#8216;Human\u2013environmental nexus in the past: understanding links between demographic variability, ecology and disease&#8217;.
