{"id":2310,"date":"2022-07-29T20:58:26","date_gmt":"2022-07-29T18:58:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/posthumusinstitute.org\/?p=2310"},"modified":"2022-07-29T20:58:26","modified_gmt":"2022-07-29T18:58:26","slug":"dissertation-award-kate-frederick-wehc2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/posthumusinstitute.leidenuniv.nl\/?p=2310","title":{"rendered":"Kate Frederick awarded Dissertation Award at WEHC2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uu.nl\/staff\/KRFrederick\/Profile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr Katherine Frederick<\/a>, one of both Research Directors of the <a href=\"https:\/\/posthumusinstitute.org\/societies-in-context\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Posthumus Research Network \u2018Societies in Context: Interactions between humans and rural-urban environments\u2019<\/a>, has been awarded the IEHA Dissertation Award in the WEHC 2022 Dissertation Competition in the category &#8217;20th-21st century&#8217; at the WEHC2022 in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>Kate Frederick was one of the final three nominees and was selected for her PhD thesis <a href=\"https:\/\/research.wur.nl\/en\/publications\/deindustrialization-in-east-africa-textile-production-in-an-era-o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deindustrialization in East Africa: Textile production in an era of globalization and colonization, c. 1830-1940<\/a>, which she succesfully defended at Wageningen University in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The N.W.
