Infectious Disease Mortality in the Western and Non-Western World (1800-now)&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 28 and 29 August 2025, the researchers involved in <span lang=\"EN-US\"> COST-Action network\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/greatleap.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-extlink=\"\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">GREATLEAP<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\">, in collaboration with the Radboud University Nijmegen, the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/www.historicaldemography.be\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-extlink=\"\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">HiDo network<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\">, and the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/iussp.org\/en\/epidemics-and-contagious-diseases-legacy-past\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-extlink=\"\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">IUSSP Panel<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\"> \u2018Epidemics and Contagious Diseases: The Legacy of the Past\u2019, organise the conference &#8216;How did we lift the burden? Infectious Disease Mortality in the Western and Non-Western World (1800-now)&#8217; . Keynote speaker at this conference is <a href=\"https:\/\/sheilaghogilvie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Sheilagh Ogilvie<\/a> (University of Oxford).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The conference is not only a closing event of the NWO-funded research project &#8216;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ru.nl\/en\/research\/research-projects\/lifting-the-burden-of-disease-the-modernisation-of-health-in-the-netherlands-amsterdam-1854-1940\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Lifting the burden of disease. The modernisation of health in the Netherlands: Amsterdam, 1854-1926<\/span><\/a>&#8216;, but it also marks the <span lang=\"EN-US\">end of the academic career of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ru.nl\/personen\/janssens-a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Professor Ang\u00e9lique Janssens<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\">, who directed the aforementioned project.
